Partytray Albert Heijn
For this project we were all handed a different international brand. We had to do a market research about the brand and try to get to know it as much as possible. After getting to know Albert Heijn I designed these two party trays. These can be used on business parties, or any other event about Albert Heijn.
We were given ‘vacuum pulling’ as production technique. This is a very interesting technique capable of mass production. I first made the tray in CAD to see what the end result should look like. When this was done, I made a mold out of wood with a CNC milling machine. After the CNC machine was done I polished the mold and put oil all over it, this prevents the tray to get stuck around the mold. I drilled a couple of tiny holes through the deeper corners of the mold so the vacuum pulling machine could suck the air through them. Then I just put a layer of Polypropylene (PP) over the vacuum pulling machine, let it warm up and get soft, and pushed the mold through the PP sheet.
